National 5 Classical Studies
Let’s get started
If you’ve ever searched for a National 5 Classical Studies textbook, you’ll have noticed that such a thing doesn’t exist. For teachers, students, or enthusiasts – there is no easy, one-stop resource such as you might find for other subjects, which makes it very difficult for people to understand the course and its content.
To our knowledge, the last Classical Studies textbook specifically created for Scottish schools came out in the 1970s.
That’s why we have put together this book, which guides you through from beginning to end.
Athens, Pompeii, Literature, and Assignment are all covered by this single volume.
We made the decision not to take this book to a publisher because we want it to reach as many people as possible. We don’t want to paywall access to the course.
That’s why we also want you to share it far and wide: let everyone know that it’s here.
Access for all
This is version 1.0.0 of the book, and we’d love members of the community to get in touch with suggestions, changes, and corrections that will make the guide even stronger. This is your book too!
This is especially true of content for the Roman Britain option in the course, which is not covered here.
Access to Classics, especially for working class people, hinges on removing costs as far as possible, and replacing the often fractured nature of the required resources with an easy-to-use beginners text.
We are proud to put this into the world, both for its practical usage, and also for its symbolism: our community can make Classics more accessible.
